April 2011
Even with the crazy weather we’ve been having, I’ve seen some beautiful old cars starting to venture out.
We have 125 dash plaques ready to go for our May 18th cruise, so pray for sunshine. Remember goody bag items if you have some connections. I’ve sent our 2011 AACA insurance for coverage for all of our cruises, so that business item is taken care of. We’ve also met with Sheetz Management, and we’re good to go.
We have 12 rooms blocked at the Riverside Inn for October 29th, 2011, for the Medieval Feast, Halloween Party and Octoberfest. It is $205 per couple for your room for one night, dinner, the show, a full breakfast and taxes. The dinner menu is – Stone Soup, Garden Salad, Hearth-baked bread, Whole stuffed chicken, BBQ Ribs, Zuppa Inglese, Apples & cheese. For reservations, please call the Inn at 814-398-4645, extension 3. Make sure that you tell them that you’re with the Kit-Han-Ne Car Club so that you’re in our block of rooms. Also please let me know when you make your reservation so I know how many rooms we have left. The rooms are blocked until July 31, 2011.
Also, regarding the Riverside Inn, there was tentatively an August car event, but it is no longer on their schedule. What they do have scheduled is an event called Cars, Clams and Cornhole on Sunday, September 4th (Labor Day). If there’s interest expressed, we’ll pull a trip together and go.
Our club picnic has been moved slightly from August 13th to August 20th to avoid a conflict with the Kiski Region’s Lackey’s Dairy Queen Cruise. Picnic location is still not settled – I’ve been busy collecting information and prices on locations – we’ll go over the choices and make a decision at our April 27th meeting at Pizza N Stuff.
Our Fall banquet is set for November 5th at the Kittanning Elks, so go ahead and mark your calendar for that event.
We’re working on information on day trips and over-nighters and will have that information to you soon (I hope!).
For the cruises this year, we’ll be selling glass-framed Cadet placemats from the 2008 Cruise Season for $10 each. The placemats were beautifully done with the Cadet Poor Boy, a ’55 Chevy and a ’58 Buick, and very nice color printing – a definite collector item for the garage wall.
Our next meeting, at Pizza “N” Stuff, 325 South Jefferson Street, Kittanning, will be Wednesday evening, April 27rd. Dinner at 6 PM, meeting at 7 PM. At the last meeting, Jim Sicheri guessed the mystery piece of car junk that Jorn found in the woods in Ohio – a grill from a 1961 Ford Galaxie. We’ll see what Jorn comes up with for the coming meeting…….
Thank you!
