Letter from the President
August 2013

August – Rain, Sunshine – Sunshine, Rain.

Our Kalmar Cruise for Relay for Life was perfect. Great weather, nice afternoon & evening and a lot of cruisers. The total for Relay for Life, with gate, food and donations came to $1,165, which will go to the American Cancer Society. Thank you all for all of your help.

Our July cruise at the Cadet was a partial washout – rain early in the evening, but the roads dried up quickly – still, it kept cruisers home for the evening. Several other cruises in the area were canceled per info from carcruises.com. Still, we had about 40 cars in and out for the evening.

We had a beautiful day for the club picnic and it was nice to see so many there. Boyd and Patty were wonderful hosts – Boyd did the chip steaks to perfection with Roy Williamson's assistance and Patty made a beautiful triple birthday cake for 3 guests having birthdays near the picnic date. The side dishes from the guests were excellent and filled our plates – thank you one and all!

Our August Cadet cruise is our charity cruise, “Cruising for Abby”, Wednesday, August 21st. Abby Bowser, 13, of Numine, is in need of a liver transplant and the club has decided to help Abby's Angels PSC with related expenses. We've been putting out a massive amount of flyers, hitting the newspapers and, with sunshine and no rain, we should have a great cruise. We still need goody bag items, as always. Set up is the same - 2PM start. We need setup help, gate help, parking help, a cold water manager and so forth - even tear down help – with good weather, it fills up fast and gets busy.

Saturday, August 24th brings conflicting events – the Walkchalk cruise and the Butler Stone House AACA Region Backroads Rally. Some have signed up and paid for the rally – we will meet at 9AM at the McDonald's Park and Ride and depart for Butler. If you're not doing the rally, please support the Walkchalk cruise – it is on grass and a real nice event.

Saturday, September 14th is our 2nd Ohio road trip for the year – this one to Mary Yoder's restaurant, the Middlefield Cheese shop, and the End of the Commons General Store and old gas station in Mesopotamia. Details coming.

The Anything on Wheels parts event at the Worthington fire hall is coming up on Saturday, September 21st. Plan to stop out and find that rare, missing part that you need.

The McConnells Mill trip will be on Sunday, September 29th. We will travel to McConnell's Mill park in the afternoon, take in the sights, and then travel east to the Fairgrounds Market cruise across from the Big Butler Fairgrounds on 422. The Fairgrounds Market has an excellent buffet dinner of picnic-type foods, with sodas, for $10 per person.

Anyone interested in an executive board position in the Kit-Han-Ne Car Club, please let me know. We will set the slate at the September club meeting and vote at the October meeting – our last meeting of the year.

Our club banquet is November 9th at the Kittanning Elks. Please plan it on your calendar.

Please remember to pay your $10 Kit-Han-Ne Region dues for 2014 – they are due by November 15th in order for your national dues to be paid 'on time'. Local dues are due to Treasurer Bobbi Williamson – 302 Cherry Tree Lane, Kittanning, PA 16201.

Our next club meeting is Wednesday, August 28th, at the Cabin Greens Golf Course on Ford City Road. Dinner at 6PM, meeting at 7PM. Please try to attend – see you there.

Thank you,
