Letter from the President
August 2016

July was a busy month. The July 14th Kalmar cruise for Relay for Life was a beautiful day, but with the weatherman calling for rain, we think he scared some people off. We had a total of 47 cars, so our donation to Relay for Life wasn't wonderful, but they did well on food, so they were happy with the total outcome. They want to do it again next year. Our July 20th Cadet cruise went very well. We had over 130 cars and we ran out of everything we need more cruises like that.

Now it is August, and again, it is a busy month.....and the weatherman is calling for 10 straight days of rain possible. Wednesday, August 17, is our August Cadet cruise. Set up, as always, is 2PM. If it rains, I'll cancel by 12:30PM, so check our website or please call me. If it is canceled, we'll meet at Cabin Greens Golf Course for our August meeting that will move the August Cadet cruise to Wednesday, August 24th. If we have to make this switch due to rain, then the Wednesday, August 24th LHHC Supper Market event will be canceled.

Sunday, August 21st is the annual Erie trip to YMCA Camp Sherwin cruise from noon to 4PM. We'll leave the Worthington firehall parking lot (the lot below the Worthington Market) at 8AM and have breakfast along the way. On the trip back home, we'll have dinner at the Meadeville Cracker Barrel and we usually gas up at that exit on 79, also.

Wednesday, August 24th is the planned trip to LHHC (Lincoln Highway Heritage Corridor) Supper Market near Ligonier. We'll do this if we don't have a rainout for the August 17th Cadet Cruise. We'll depart the McDonald's Park and Ride at 4PM and plan a 1.5 hour drive to LHHC. The event starts at 5PM, so we won't be the first there. There's food available, and music, outdoors. A nice 'wine-appropriate' event with your own folding tables and chairs, or use their picnic tables. The event usually runs until 8PM, so we'll have that drive home to deal with maybe new cars, maybe some old cars?

Sunday, August 28th is the Cheeseburger in Paradise event at Paradise Park on route 268. The event car cruise is from noon to 4PM, but you're welcome to stay way beyond 4PM.

Our club picnic is Saturday, September 10th at the Constitution pavillion at Crooked Creek State Park. Same location as last year and we have the pavillion all day. Playground for the kids. We'll have games set up by noon and we'll have dinner at 3PM. We're having fried chicken and pulled pork. Please bring a covered dish to share. The club will provide the meats, drinks and table settings. We're assured that the restrooms now have running water. Your friends and other clubs are invited.

We will be electing officers at the October 26th meeting. Anyone interested in running for any office, please let me know by our September meeting. Bobbi Williamson is stepping down as treasurer, so that office is open. All $10.00 Kit-Han-Ne dues are due to Bobbi Williamson by November 15th. Anyone not paying their local dues will not have their national AACA membership renewed by the club.

The Wednesday, September 21st Cadet cruise is our last cruise of the season. Saturday, October 15th is the trip to Horseshoe Curve & Railroad Museum. Dinner will be at Cracker Barrel in Altoona. And, the club fall banquet is November 12 at Cabin Greens golf Course.

Please try to make it to the Cabin Greens meeting the kitchen puts on a great buffet, reasonably-priced. Last meeting, we had picnic-style food with pigs in the blanket, salads, corn on the cob, watermelon and fancy dessert. Since we get the meeting room for free, we should present a fair-sized dinner crowd. Please consider making it to the dinner & meeting.

See you all at the Cadet Wednesday, August 17th. Our next club meeting is Wednesday, August 24th at Cabin Greens golf course. Dinner 6PM, meeting at 7PM. See you there. Remember the rain 'switch', if necessary if rain on cruise day, then meeting at Cabin Greens instead.
