With the crazy weather we've been having, it's hard to think of car cruises, but, guess what? WE ARE!
Our Cadet Cruises are set: Typically 4 PM, 3rd Wednesday of the month: May 15, June 19, July 17, August 21 (for a charity), and September 18.
Our annual Kalmar Motors cruise is set for Thursday, July 20th, 4 to 8 PM, to benefit Relay for Life.
We have put out over 150 flyers, via the Armstrong County Tourist Bureau, at the Pittsburgh Mills Expo Mart for February 8, 9 and 10. The tourist bureau will also carry our flyers at the tourist bureau office in Kittanning. Plus, as we are members of the Armstrong County Tourist Bureau, our activities are listed in the 2013 50th anniversary issue of the Armstrong County Travel Guide. Get a look at the top of page 4!
We have been asked by Kittanning Care Center to have a car cruise for the residents sometime near the end of June.
In the upcoming meeting, we'll be setting dates for our banquet, the picnic and discussing day trips and over-nighters for those interested in old car actual travel. Come to the meeting and bring your ideas. Remember, goody bag items for the cruises are always needed.
Dates are important to everything that we set up. With only so many days available, there are many competing events, so we have to schedule to avoid conflicts as best as possible. If you have some 'for sure can't miss events' already scheduled for 2013, let me know.
The 2012 audit is completed and will be presented at the February 27th meeting.
The dinner and the tour of the Nemacolin Castle with the Laurel Highlands Region AACA on December 12, 2012, was really wonderful. It could be a great day trip for our club. They do Christmas tours, but you can tour anytime with prior arrangements.
The $500 giveaway Keystone Kruisers cruise is Sunday, July 7th, from 4 to 8 PM at the Worthington West Franklin firehall grounds. Also, along with the Keystone Kruisers, our club helps, each year, with the Camp Sherwin YMCA car cruise, in the Westlake area of Erie, PA. This is a great day trip with a breakfast buffet stop on the way up and a Cracker Barrel stop on the way back. It is a route 79 run, and we try to hold about 5 mph 'under' travel speed to 'keep them together'.
I took many 2012 Christmas gifts, courtesy of the donation from our club treasury and members, to the Armstrong County Health Center for the residents. For the meeting, I'll bring the pictures that the Health Center sent to me.
Our Wednesday, February 27th meeting will be at Cabin Greens Golf Course – 361 Ford City Road – a little south of Cadogan and just beyond McVille toward Freeport. Food is excellent there and they have a good meeting facility. Dinner at 6 PM and meeting at 7 PM.
Happy Valentines Day – Thank you,
