Our June 15th Cadet Cruise went very well – great weather, 118 cars, lots of guests and participants and a lot of members to help – Thank You! Our only real problem was parking for such a good turnout. We hope to have that solved with Mark, Joe and Boyd in charge of parking for the coming cruises.

July is a busy month:

Starts right away with a Friday, July 1 re-introduction of the downtown Ford City Heritage Days Cruise, 6 PM to 11PM – it would be real nice for a strong turnout to support this event.

Friday night, July 8th – Nostalgia night at Lernerville Speedway. A great evening to get to talk with the past drivers on the dirt at Lernerville – there will be autograph and picture sessions and old race cars on display.

Saturday, July 9th – Crime Watch Cruise at Kittanning Riverview Park from 1 PM to 5 PM. Our club will be assisting the Crime Watch people with this event – we’ll start setup at 10 AM, so please try to attend and help. We’ll be doing the music and a few other tasks as needed.

Sunday, July 10th – Keystone Kruisers annual cruise at Worthington Firehall from 4 PM to 8 PM. This is a great event with a single $500 giveaway, a Chinese auction, 50/50 and food by the firemen. One year, the 50/50 paid out more than the $500 giveaway – very successful event!

Saturday, July 16th – Kalmar Motors Relay for Life Cruise from 11 AM to 3 PM. This is one of our two charity cruises that we do during the year – please plan to show up and help out. We’ll start setup at 9 AM. Need goody bag items if you can get them.

Then it is back to the Cadet for Wednesday, July 20th – Cadet Cruise from 4 PM to 9 PM. Setup starts at 2 PM. If you have a red Kit-Han-Ne shirt, please wear it and remember goody bag items – we still need items. Club members, if we have excellent weather and turnout, please plan to double-park under the canopies on the west side of the Cadet – since you’ll be there for the evening, we’ll plan to ‘park you in’ with the next row of guest cars right out in front of you – this will add 10 spaces as compared to the last cruise and help ease the parking problem.

At the June 22 club meeting, we voted to pay the annual club officers liability insurance – it will be effective from October 2011 to October 2012.

We are going to introduce a new feature to the Cadet Cruises – we will have a Best of Cruise trophy to be presented at 8 PM, in conjunction with the 50/50 drawing. This trophy will be by participant voting – each participant will have one vote via a 3rd ticket or ‘form’ in their goody bag, and using a pen that is normally supplied in the bag, are asked to write down their choice for Best of Cruise candidate vehicle on that ticket and deposit it at the music tent. A club member will be assigned the task of sorting and counting the votes and name the winning vehicle.

Our next meeting, at Pizza “N” Stuff, 325 South Jefferson Street, Kittanning, will be Wednesday evening, July 27th. Dinner at 6 PM, meeting at 7 PM.
