The Ford City Summerfest Car Show was a little disorganized, but with the great help from our members, we got things 'going' and they pulled off a nice event. I think that by next year's event, things will be better organized by the Summerfest committee.
As with every July, we have a lot going on this month.
Wednesday, July 15th – Cadet Cruise.
Sunday, July 19th – The Damn Tour. Meet at McDonald's Park and Ride, 1PM – Travel to, and see, Conemaugh and Loylhanna dams & then dinner at 5PM at Marchitelli's in Saltsburg.
Wednesday, July 22nd – Lincoln Highway Heritage Corridor (LHHC) Museum trip – 'evening' event – leave McDonald's Park and Ride at 3PM and plan a 2 hour drive (actual is about 1.5 hours) to Ligonier, PA. The museum will be open for us. This event has food and music available, outdoors, for the general public (and for us). This is an evening event, a distance from home, so, by the time we leave there, you'll probably be getting home with the headlights 'on'. We will also be conducting our July club meeting in the museum.
Thursday, July 23rd – Kalmar Motors Cruise-in for Relay for Life – Setup will be at 2PM – cruise is from 4 to 8PM – we need goody bag items and door prizes.
The Keystone Kruisers annual trip to help at the YMCA Camp Sherwin annual cruise-in has been rain-delayed until Sunday, August 16.
Our Wednesday, August 19th Cadet Cruise will be our charity cruise for this year – we will choose the charity at the July 22nd club meeting at the LHHC. The 3 choices agreed to at the June club meeting are: Salvation Army, Cystic Fibrosis, or SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).
The Punxsutawney Region, AACA, Model A & T event is Saturday, July 18th at the Silver Canoe Campground. Contact is Carl - 724-422-4869
The Pennsylvania Turnpike 75th anniversary car show is Saturday, August 8th at Sideling Hill Plaza. Must be pre-registered to cruise the Turnpike, for free, to get to this event. Per suggestion from Ernie Luke, I've registered (car entry #39) to enter/exit at Bedford and do most of the driving 'off the Turnpike' – the logic being that older cars, and issues common with older cars, places you 'under the care' of the Turnpike while on the Turnpike. So, we'll run 422, 22 and down 99 to Bedford and get on the free Turnpike ride there.
The Doo Wop event at Anchor Village, Clarion area, is Sunday, August 30th, from 11AM to ? $30 per couple.
Information for many of the above events is on the club website. You can click on the Doo Wop listing and the flyer, for the event, comes up. $30/couple. Excellent event last year.
If you plan to come to any of these events, please email me or call me so we know what to expect as turnouts.
