July is a busy month with a lot of cruises. The Ford city July 3rd Summerfest went well – there were 70 cars and we had many members who helped – a big thanks goes out to those who showed up and to those who helped. The event brought in $350 gate money to the Summerfest committee. The Worthington Farmer's and car parade during carnival week was well-attended by club members. Jorn has volunteered to handle the car part of it for next year so that we don't have the confusion that we had this year – simple things like getting cars in numerical order lineup ahead of the parade start.
Thursday, July 14th, is the Kalmar Relay for Life cruise at Kalmar Motors, Leechburg. Set-up starts at 2PM with the cruise starting at 4PM and goes to 8PM. By the time you get this letter, the cruise will be history – hope you made it to it.
Wednesday, July 20th is our Tom Higginson in memory cruise at the Cadet. Setup at 2PM with the cruise starting at 4PM to 8PM. We will try to have the gate ready for 3PM for early arrivals.
We have many August plans. Wednesday, August 17th Cadet cruise is our charity cruise, so please come to the July club meeting at Cabin Greens with information on charities you would like to have considered. Sunday, August 21st is the 'annual' Erie trip to YMCA Camp Sherwin for the noon to 4PM cruise. We usually leave from the Worthington firehall at 8AM and have breakfast along the way – then we stop at Cracker Barrel for dinner on the way back home. Wednesday, August 24th is our Lincoln Highway Heritage Corridor (LHHC) museum trip to Ligonier for the Supper Market event – 5 to 8PM – 1.5 hour drive each way. There's food available, and music, outdoors. A nice 'wine-appropriate' event with your own folding tables and chairs, or use their picnic tables. Sunday, August 28th is the Cheeseburger in Paradise event at Paradise Park on route 268 – more information coming.
Also, a topic for the next meeting at Cabin Greens is a decision on when and where to have the club picnic this year. Last year, we went to Crooked Creek park and Bud Glendening made it to that one. We had a good crowd show up.
Please try to make it to the Cabin Greens meeting – the kitchen puts on a great buffet, reasonably-priced. Last meeting, we had picnic-style food with bar-b-qued country spare ribs, salads, corn on the cob, watermelon and fancy dessert. Since we get the meeting room for free, we should present a fair-sized dinner crowd. Please consider making it to the dinner & meeting.
The letter from the president is available on the club website at www.kithannecarclub.com. If you do not want a paper letter in the US mail, please contact me and let me know.
See you all at the Cadet – Wednesday, July 20th. Our next club meeting is Wednesday, July 27th at Cabin Greens golf course. Dinner 6PM, meeting at 7PM. See you there. Remember the rain 'switch', if necessary – if rain on cruise day, then meeting at Cabin Greens instead.
