June 2011
With our May cruise rained-out, we really need our June 15th cruise to be rain-free. We did have 3 cars show up in May – one local, one from Butler and one from East Brady – thank you to those folks for showing up. On Wednesday, June 15th, we’ll start set-up between 2:30 PM and 3 PM, so please come early to help if you can. The trailer will be there between noon and 1 PM as this will end up the first one of the season and we’ll be a little rusty at set-up ‘speed’. If you have a red Kit-Han-Ne shirt, please wear it and remember goody bag items – we still need items.
Our day trip to Horseshoe Curve, the railroad museum and Boyer candy is Saturday, June 18th. We’ll meet at the West Kittanning Park-n-Ride at 8 AM. We will eat lunch over in the Altoona area. Please let me know if you plan to participate.
The Worthington Farmers’ Parade is Tuesday, June 21st. Parade cars are meeting at the American Legion lot in Worthington at 6:30 PM. We are invited to participate.
Sunday, June 26th is the Keystone Kruisers day trip to YMCA Camp Sherwin in Erie. We’ll meet at the Worthington Firehall at 8 AM. We stop for lunch on the way and after the cruise (on grass), we stop to eat at Cracker Barrel. Again, please let me know if you plan to travel along.
The Kittanning Crime Watch Cruise is Saturday, July 9th, in the park along Water Street. Our club is helping with the music and other tasks related to making this a successful event for Kittanning – if you can help with this cruise, please plan it in your schedule.
The Kalmar Motors Cruise for Relay for Life is Saturday, July 16th, from 11 AM to 3 PM.
Our club picnic this year will be at Boyd and Patty Baker’s place on Saturday, August 20th. Beautiful country setting right by Birdsfoot Country Club in North buffalo Township.
Our 2nd charity cruise for the year will be on Wednesday, September 21 at the Cadet – this will be for C.A.M.P. – the Community Action Mentoring Program.
We voted recently to have our dash plaques and tee shirts made by a new vendor – JnJ Graphix of the greater Kittanning area. Their website is www.JnJGraphix.com. Remember to get your digital pictures to Bill for your club tee shirts. If you didn’t order a club tee shirt, just get in contact with myself or Bill and we’ll get you set up.
Remember to make your reservations for the Medieval Feast at the Riverside Inn for October 29th, 2011. It is $205 per couple – call 814-398-4645, ext. 3. The price includes dinner, the show, your room and an excellent breakfast buffet on Sunday morning. The rooms are ‘blocked’ until July 31, 2011. Remember to tell them that you’re with the Kit-Han-Ne Car Club.
The fall banquet is Saturday, November 5th at the Kittanning Elks.
For the cruises this year, we’ll be selling glass-framed Cadet placemats from the 2008 Cruise Season for $10 each. The placemats were beautifully done with the Cadet Poor Boy, a ’55 Chevy and a ’58 Buick, and very nice color printing – a definite collector item for the garage wall.
Our next meeting, at Pizza “N” Stuff, 325 South Jefferson Street, Kittanning, will be Wednesday evening, June 22nd. Dinner at 6 PM, meeting at 7 PM. At the last meeting, Boyd Baker guessed the mystery piece of car junk that Jorn brought in – a grill from a 1967 Ford Galaxie. Boyd said that he recognized it right away – he had a 67 Galaxie back in the day.
Thank you!
