It’s June and we’ve had days in the 60’s, days in the high 80’s and rain.
Our trip to Snyders in New Springfield, Ohio, turned out perfect – the weather was beautiful. Eleven of us traveled in 4 old cars and two modern trucks to Snyders and saw some unbelievable cars and had a great meal at O’Charley’s in Boardman. The Snyder collection was not just rare, high performance cars – it was also the names associated with the cars like the Sox and Martin hemi drag car, a real Dale Earnhart Monte Carlo #3 race car with the scuffs to prove it, Ned Jarrett’s Bondy Long 1964 Galaxie NASCAR and Dale Jarrett’s Ford Taurus NASCAR car, plus many, many more – Thunderbolts and lots of factory 2 four barrel cars. A 1924 fire truck. A Z11 427 Impala factory lightweight based on the 409 block – early 427 development on the older block with the unique 348/409 valve covers. Larry and Jackie Rupp also actually stopped at Snyder’s Model T/ Model A store across the road and bought a bunch of parts. One unique feature at Snyders was that you are allowed to ‘leave some ink’ on the blacktop in front of the garages, so Jorn just couldn’t resist. We ran out of time to get to TP Tool, so we’ll have to do that another time. Many thanks to Mark Crissman for setting up this great event!
Here’s hoping the June 20th Cadet Cruise will be dry and there is a good turnout. Please try to be there for set up between 2 PM and 4 PM. Thank you.
Not long after that, we have Kalmar’s 75th anniversary Relay for Life Cruise. This year is different – rather than a Saturday cruise, we’re going to try for a Thursday evening cruise – 4 PM, Thursday, July 12. We’ll go from 4 PM to 8 PM – same location – the used car lot at Kalmar Motors, Route 66, Leechburg. Again, if you can help out, please be there about 2 hours early for setup (2 PM to 4 PM). Again, thank you!
I’ve blocked 12 rooms at the Riverside Inn – October 26th and 27th. The 26th is the murder mystery and the 27th is the Medival Feast and Halloween party. You can choose one or the other day, or both days. The cost for one night is $209 and two nights is $399. This is a couples cost and it includes your room, dinner and the show, and breakfast. Saturday, you can spend time in Cambridge Springs (some antique shops) or Erie. Call 1-800-956-9490 for reservations and let them know you’re with the Kit-Han-Ne Car club group under the name Bobbi Jensen. The rooms are blocked until July 31st.
Our Wednesday, June 27th meeting will be at the Subway on Water Street in Kittanning (Subway Restaurant again). Dinner at 6 PM and meeting at 7 PM. Please park in the rear parking lot at the restaurant.
