At our May meeting, we had 13 members present – we really need more members to attend meetings. The kitchen made a lot of food and there were a lot of leftovers. The club paid $50 to pay for the extra food and some members took some home. Thank you, Don Bowers, for buying some of the extra food.
Saturday, June 16, 2 to 4 PM, is the Sugar Creek Care Center Special Wish car show. Rain date is Saturday, June 23rd. This is not a public event – this is for residents, their families, staff, and the people presenting the cars. I met with Sugar Creek management, and with the resident who made the wish – he's very excited. There is room for about 25 cars, on pavement. The facility will be providing hot dogs, chips, cookies, pop and water. The DJ from the Butler oldies radio station will be there and they will be doing videos. Please come for the two hours to help make this wish come true for this resident. Please let me know if you plan to attend, 724-664-1022, so that I have a count of cars and people to expect.
The Ford City Summerfest cruise-in will be Sunday, July 1st, from 2 to 6 PM. Please come to help at the gate or with parking by 1 PM – even earlier is better as we all know how the early birds arrive.
Wednesday, June 20, will be our 2nd Cadet cruise of the year – rain date is Wednesday, June 27, from 4 to 8 PM. Please come help if you can.
Saturday, June 30, will be our night Cadet cruise from 8 PM to midnight – Saturday, July 7 will be the rain date. Set up will start at 6 PM – please come and help if you can. We will not be operating the hot dog cart that night and the restaurant will close at 8 PM. There's Sheetz available, possibly the ice cream truck and possibly a local 'foodie' truck vendor. We're still working on details for this event as this is a first ever attempt at a 'late night'.
Idlewild Park is having a version of the old Old Fashioned Days – they are doing a car show in the park parking lot, Thursday, June 21 and Friday, June 22. There will be 2 free admissions per antique car that enters. Additional park tickets can be purchased, at discount, for additional passengers. Gates open at 10:30 AM. An antique car parade through the park center starts at 6 PM for those wanting to participate in that. The parade is limited to 125 cars – they announce the car and owner as they pass the stage area. They do give a dash plaque for each car entered. One caution for low-riders – there are 6 each 3” high speed bumps that have to be negotiated in order to enter.
Don't forget club tee shirts – $6 small through XL, $9 XXL, and $10 XXXL. Hats - $6. Please let me know if you want to buy any of this apparel and we'll get an order together.
Our 3rd club meeting of the year – Wednesday, June 27 at the Cabin Greens Golf Course dining room, dinner at 6 PM, Meeting at 7 PM. See you there. Please try to patronize the restaurant as the meeting room is free to the club.
