We’re to the middle of March and things really haven’t been quiet – there’s been a lot of work going on in the background. More and more car cruises, shows and swap meets are being posted on the internet. Our Cadet and Kalmar Motors cruise schedule has been set and is posted on the club website, carcruises.com and Big Al’s List.com. We’ve also advertised in Cruisin’ Times Magazine. We have a big stack of flyers ready, so, we’re ready to go for this season.

Cadet – Wednesdays – May 18, June 15, July 20, August 17 & 31 and September 21.

Kalmar Motor Sales/Relay for Life – Saturday, July 16.

Our webmaster, Bill Johnson, received the 2010 Award of Distinction for the Kit-Han-Ne Car Club website. Bill has done a wonderful job with the website. We have over 3500 ‘hits’ on the site, so people are using it for information. A small version of the award appears below my letter on the website – take a look.

I’ve been checking other places for our fall banquet, but so far, the price at the Kittanning Elks, even with the increase, is still the best. Fall banquet – November 5th.

The club picnic is Saturday, August 13th, but that is also the Kiski Region AACA at Lackey’s Dairy Queen. If you want to change the picnic to Saturday, August 20th, then let’s hear from you – you may want to be going to Lackey’s that day.

Our first meeting of the new year was on Wednesday, February 23rd, at Pizza “N” Stuff at 325 South Jefferson Street in Kittanning. We had the largest turnout at a meeting ever and we filled the place. Thank you to all who attended! We did have issues with table length and machine noise/hearing problems, so we’ll get that squared away for the next meeting. Those in attendance appeared pleased with the location, the food and the service. Our next meeting, at Pizza “N” Stuff, will be Wednesday evening, March 23rd. Dinner at 6 PM, meeting at 7 PM.

I need your ideas for events that you feel are worthwhile attending in 2011 – the following are some ideas that we’ve discussed in the past:

1 - Overnighter - Doo-Wop Music & Cruise-in with the Mon-Ologues – in August at the Riverside Inn. Please note – this event is not on the Riverside’s schedule on the internet – I’ll try to find out if they’re still doing it when the hotel opens in April.

2 - Overnighter - Another Riverside Inn favorite – The Medieval Feast in October.

3 - Overnighter trip to the AACA Museum, Hershey, Pa – stop at the Dream Restaurant, Swigart Museum, Chocolate World and the AACA Museum.

4 - Overnighter repeat to Gravity Hill, Shawnee Park area, Bedford, covered bridges & good eats.

5 - Day trip to Tara, Kraynaks, & Daffins in November – or maybe to somewhere else?

6 - Day trip to Johnstown – many choices – inclined plane (take your car on it), flood museum, Heritage Discovery Center, Cambria County War Memorial Arena.

7 - Day trip to the Altoona area – railroad museum, Horseshoe Curve, DelGrosso Park (Corvette Club does an event there – open to all cars), Gardner’s Candy in Tyrone.

8 - Day trip to the annual Packard Meet in Warren, Ohio – they have an all-makes cruise-in on one day.

9 - Day trip to Idlewild Park Old Fashioned Days – old car event and at the end of the day, you cruise through the park and have your car announced.

10 - Your ideas here……………

Please try to attend the March 23rd meeting with ideas on ways to improve our cruises and with ideas on places you’d like to include as club travel and events.
