Letter from the President
November 2012
KIT-HAN-NE REGION OF THE AACA

We're in mid-November and all local region $10 dues have been paid to Treasurer Bobbi Williamson. She is sending for our AACA national memberships this month - your cards will go to Bobbi and she will stamp them 'dues paid for 2013' and then we will get the cards out to the members in the new year.

The Sunday, October 14th, multi-club visit to Ed Brown's garage near Lower Burrell was very well attended - 43 people showed up. After the tour, the meal at Villa Blanco in Lower Burrell was excellent - actually ended up with a small car show at the restaurant - people were pulling in to see the cars.

The Saturday, October 20th, fall road trip to the 4 covered bridges and Yarnick's Farm Market in Indiana County had 14 people participate on a cold, overcast day. It turned out a good trip and ended with a great meal at Rockville United Lutheran Church, Rockville, Armstrong County. Joe and Mary Ethel Miller were working at the church that day and supplied us with plenty of great food and pies.

Wednesday, October 24th, was our final club meeting of 2012 at the Cabin Greens Golf Course dining room, and the following officers were elected for the 2013 year:

  • Bobbi Jensen - President
  • Boyd Baker - Vice President
  • Bobbi Williamson - Treasurer
  • Mark Crissman - Secretary
  • Bill Johnson - Webmaster
  • Jorn Jensen - Legislative Liason

The Riverside Inn weekend had 3 couples in attendance. The Medieval Feast was excellent as always with the Halloween Party afterward. Jorn found some treasures in the antique shops in town.

I really enjoyed our fall banquet on Saturday, November 3rd at the Kittanning Elks. The food was wonderful as always and no one went home hungry. The flowers that Jackie Rupp bought were beautiful - thank you Jackie! I thought it was great trying to guess the people and cars in the pictures - thank you all for bringing them in. I really liked Boyd's puffy childhood cheeks - we guessed him fairly easily. Then there were the stories about the cars - bought it for this much, fixed it up with used parts, etc.

The 2012 financial audit will be done by Joe and Mary Ethel Miller right after we close out the 2012 books. They will present the audit results at the February 27, 2013 meeting.

The club will be buying Christmas gifts for residents of the Armstrong County Health Center. I'll get sweat suits, t-shirts, socks, lotions, etc. The Health Center will send us pictures of the distribution of gifts to residents.

A few of us will be going to the Christmas dinner at Nemacolin Castle with the Laurel Highlands Region AACA in December. We'll let you know how it went and maybe we can set up a trip there for next year.

Our 2013 Cadet and Kalmar cruises are set - Cadet, Wednesdays, May 15, June 19, July 17, August 21, September 18. Kalmar Motors/Relay for Life - Thursday, July 20th.

Our first 2013 meeting, Wednesday, February 27th, will be at Cabin Greens Golf Course - 361 Ford City Road - a little south of Cadogan and just beyond McVille toward Freeport. Food is excellent there and they have a good meeting facility. Dinner at 6 PM and meeting at 7 PM.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

    Thank you,
    Bobbi
