October 2011
It is hard to believe that it is already October and our cruise season is over for another year. Thank you everyone for all of the help. Setting up, manning the gate, filling goody bags, etc., - it takes all of us to have successful cruises. There’s still lots of things to do yet this year – see below – 2 events and a meeting in October and two events in November.
Our September cruise for C.A.M.P. went well with 86 paid entries. As has been common this fall, the rain clouds threatened the event. Participants enjoyed CAMP’s bake sale and the KDKA activities tent. At that cruise, the Doug Boyer Car Collection Participant’s trophy went to Butch Lamar’s Kustom Kaiser.
Our trip to TIP Tool/O’Charley’s has been pushed into 2012 – we are researching going to Bartel’s private auto museum in Poland, Ohio, also on the same trip. A date has not yet been chosen.
The Lincoln Highway over-nighter trip is October 15th/16th (Saturday/Sunday). We have 10 rooms blocked (all that were available) at the Shawnee Motel on Route 30 at Schellsburg – 814-733-2828. You can still make your reservations by calling the motel and letting them know that you are with the Kit-Han-Ne Car Club group to get our group rate of $52 – and please let me know that you are signed up as we need to give up any un-needed rooms one week before the event. We’ll go to Gravity Hill and a few other sites on Saturday and then have dinner at the Fireside Restaurant across the street from the motel. Sunday will include breakfast at the Fireside and then a stop and tour of the restored Bedford Springs Hotel. Please plan the dates in your calendar now and make your reservation call – the motel owners will be on vacation for two weeks – not sure which two weeks, so if you can’t get them, please call me – we need to keep track of rooms reserved.
You can still make your reservations for the Medieval Feast, Riverside Inn, October 29th. 1-800-956-9490. $205 per couple for your room, the show, the dinner and breakfast the next morning. The Riverside Inn is in Cambridge Springs, PA.
The slate of officers for the 2012 elections – President – Bobbi Jensen, Vice President – Boyd Baker, Treasurer – Bobbi Williamson, and Secretary – Mark Crissman. We will vote at the October meeting.
Our Fall banquet is Saturday, November 5th at the Kittanning Elks. Cash bar from 5:30 to 6:30 with dinner at 6:30. Dinner will be $12.00 for adults and $6 for children under 8. The menu is turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, noodles, vegetable, rolls, butter, cole slaw, coffee, tea and cake for dessert. I need a headcount by October 21st so that the Elks can be prepared for us. Bobbi – 724-664-1022.
All local $10 Kit-Han-Ne club dues for 2012 are due to Donna Kovar by November 15th in order for your 2012 national AACA dues to be paid. Please get your $10 dues to Donna Kovar, 313 O’Connor Street, Ford City, PA 16226.
2012 Cadet Cruises schedule is as follows – all Wednesdays, mostly the third Wednesday – May 16th, June 20th, July 18th, August 15th and 29th, and September 19th. Remember – August is a two-cruise month. 2012 Kalmar Motors Cruise for Relay for Life is now on a weeknight – Thursday, July 12th, 2012.
Tara – Kraynaks – Daffins road trip – Sunday, November 13th, 2011.
Our next meeting, at Pizza “N” Stuff, 325 South Jefferson Street, Kittanning, will be Wednesday evening, October 26th. Dinner at 6 PM, meeting at 7 PM.
Thank you!
