The weather today was beautiful, but cold weather and rain are on the way. Enjoy any remaining good weather.
Saturday, October 15th, 5 of us enjoyed a beautiful drive to Horseshoe Curve and the Railroaders Museum in Altoona. We had perfect weather and got to see 4 trains pass through the curve – a loaded coal train headed east, a tankers train headed east, and two stack trains (stacked cargo containers) headed west. At the museum, we saw a movie on the construction of the curve and many excellent displays of the railroad workings of Altoona. We also got to tour the newly-opened roundhouse with rolling stock under restoration. We ended the day with an excellent meal at the Cracker Barrel on Plank Road.

So, what is still going on with cars? The County Seat restaurant is having a cruise-in every Saturday in October – 3PM till whenever. On Saturday, October 22nd, the Rockville Lutheran Church is having their annual Fall Festival with soup, sandwiches, pie and ice cream. They also have crafts, chances on winning gifts, and take-home soup available in canning jars. We're planning to meet, as a group, at 2PM at the church and take in the event. When we're done at the Rockville church, members are welcome to cruise along over to the cruise in at the County Seat restaurant in Kittanning – two events, same day – looking for good weather.
To get to Rockville church, take Garretts Run Road to the Shay intersection – from the north (Kittanning), make a left turn at Shay and travel about 2 miles downhill to Rockville. The church is on your left – red brick church.
