September and we only have two 2010 cruises left for the year. We’re back at the Cadet with the slogan, “C’mon back to the Cadet”. The first Cadet cruise of the year is this coming Wednesday, September 15th. We’ll start setup at 2 PM, so please try to be there as soon as you can. Remember, we need goody bag items if you have any connections. Our second Cadet cruise of the season will be on Wednesday, September 29th, and will benefit the Kittanning Township Volunteer Fire Department. Setup time will be the same - 2 PM.
The club picnic at Mahoning Dam on Saturday, August 21st, was really nice – good weather, good food and good folks getting together and enjoying the afternoon. Chef Boyd had a nice selection of meats on the grill and the covered dishes were wonderful. Also, it was nice of Joe to happen to have a birthday on that day – an excuse to have cake! We had approximately 30 folks from various clubs and about 12 took the tour of the dam. We even had a skunk show up in one of the trees! A good & successful event! Thank you to everyone who came and participated.
We have our election of officers in October for the year 2011 – please let me know if you are interested in running for any of the officer positions before our September 22nd meeting and we’ll get you on the ballot. We need president, vice president, secretary & treasurer.
Any member who would like a Kit-Han-Ne Region club shirt, please let me know by our September 22 meeting so I can order them. I’ll need your size, and spouse size if applicable – shirts will cost you $8 each.
All 2011 club dues of $10 need to be sent to Treasurer Donna Kovar before our Saturday, November 6th Fall banquet. Donna’s address is 313 O’Connor Street, Ford City, PA 16226. Your local dues must be collected before we send in the national dues, so please get the local $10 dues sent in. Please consider doing it now before you put this letter aside.
The Fall Murder Mystery trip is Saturday and Sunday, October 30 and 31. We have 10 couples signed up and there is still time to call the hotel ( 1-800-964-5173, ext 3 & tell them you’re with the Kit-Han-Ne Car Club group) if you would like to go with us. The cost is $199 per couple – that includes your room, your Saturday evening meal, the show and Sunday morning buffet breakfast. Since it is Halloween weekend, don’t forget your Halloween costume if you’re going to the Pub after the show. There will also be an Octoberfest all weekend with microbrews, wines, music and a German-style marketplace – right there at the hotel. Be ready to party and have a good time!
The Kit-Han-Ne Club Fall banquet will be at the Kittanning Elks, Saturday, November 6th. Cocktails at 5:30 PM (cash bar) and dinner at 6:30 PM. The dinner will be $11.95 per person and will consist of turkey, stuffing, noodles, mashed potatoes, vegetable, coleslaw, gravy, rolls, coffee, tea and cake. Club members, friends, family and children are welcome – childrens’ meals at an appropriately reduced price. I’ll need a headcount by our Wednesday, October 27th meeting – please keep that date in mind.
Our annual trip to Tara, Kraynak’s, and Daffins is set for Sunday, November 21st. We leave the park and ride at McDonald’s at 9 AM, getting us to Tara at around 10:30 AM. Buffet is at 11 AM. Buffet cost is $20.95 plus tax and gratuity for adults, $16.95 for senior citizens and $12.95 for children under 12.
Our next club meeting is Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010, at Teresa’s Royal Allegheny. Dinner at 6 PM and meeting at 7 PM.
