Even though it is already September, we still have many things coming up.
Last Cadet cruise of the season – Wednesday, September 18th. As always, we need help at setup, operation (parking, gate, water sales, etc.) and tear-down. Also need goody bag items.
Anything on Wheels Parts Swap meet at the Worthington firehall grounds – Saturday, September 21. Plan to stop out – you never know what treasure you might find.
Peanut Butter Festival Cruise, noon to 5 PM, Saturday, September 22, New Bethlehem at Gumtown Park. Nice event with food available in the park. Like most cruises, if you get there at noon, you're late.
The McConnell's Mill trip is Sunday, September 29th. We leave the McDonald's Park and Ride at 1 PM. We will travel west on 422 to McConnell's Mill State Park in the afternoon, take in a few sights, and then travel back east, a few miles, to the Fairground Market for their final cruise/buffet of the season. The Fairground Market has an excellent buffet dinner of picnic-type foods, with pop and water, for $10 per person – and, you don't need to bring a covered dish!
Our August Cruising for Abby cruise at the Cadet was a huge success. We had great weather and a great turnout of people donating to Abby's expenses – quite a number of regulars donated heavily - we've turned over $822 to the Abby's Angels PSC fund. Abby was able to make it to the cruise and even received her own four-times normal size dash plaque of Theda Brown's 1964 Ford Galaxie convertible.
Anyone interested in an executive board position in the Kit-Han-Ne Car Club, please let me know by the September 25th meeting. We will set the slate at the September club meeting and vote at the October meeting – our last meeting of the year.
Our club banquet is November 9th at the Kittanning Elks. Cash bar 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, dinner at 6:30 PM – turkey, real mashed potatoes & gravy, vegetable, stuffing, noodles, coleslaw, rolls & butter, coffee, tea and cake. $12.95 per meal and $6 for children under 8 years of age. Please plan it on your calendar. All meals need to be paid for, in advance, by November 3rd to Bobbi Williamson, treasurer, 302 Cherry Tree Lane, Kittanning, PA 16201.
Please remember to pay your $10 Kit-Han-Ne Region dues for 2014 – they are due by November 15th in order for your national dues to be paid 'on time'. Local dues are due to Treasurer Bobbi Williamson, treasurer – 302 Cherry Tree Lane, Kittanning, PA 16201.
We've received our yearly free four national memberships from the AACA, so, if you know of someone wanting to join the Kit-Han-Ne Region, let me know. They'll still need to pay the $10 local dues. These free memberships only apply to new AACA members, not returning AACA members.
If you have a change in your address, phone number or email address, please inform Bill Johnson so that he can update the membership roster – Bill Johnson, 707 Butler Road, Kittanning, PA 16201.
There has been some discussion of a change of meeting place, due mainly to distance-to-drive, as the golf course is a bit southwest of Kittanning. One option brought up was the Kittanning Elks – but, to get food, we'd have to change our meeting night to Thursday – plus, we're not guaranteed 'meeting only' space. Same with the new Italian restaurant in Kittanning – okay for Wednesdays, but need 30 people to close off a room and we couldn't do that 'early' during their 'peak' hours. So, if you have any ideas, let's discuss them at the September meeting.
Our next club meeting is Wednesday, September 25th, at the Cabin Greens Golf Course on Ford City Road. Dinner at 6 PM, meeting at 7 PM. Please try to attend – see you there.
