We're near the end of the 2015 cruise season. Our last Cadet cruise for the year is on Wednesday, September 16th, 4 to 8PM. We have 'special' dash plaques for this event. Setup starts at 2PM – helpers please come early if you can. We'll again have the roving hot dog cart 'on scene'.
The Kittanning K-9 Cruise-Aid went very well – it was a hot day and the waters sold the best. Donations and event income exceeded expectations, so thank you to everyone that participated, helped and donated. Sheriff Bill Rupert will most-likely make a public announcement about the event.
There's plenty of other great-quality events, yet, this fall season. The Keystone Kruisers picnic at Russ and Shirley Collar's picnic grove is Saturday, September 19th – starts at 3PM, food at 5PM. Kit-Han-Ne members are invited – please bring a covered dish to share and don't forget your 'cruise' lawn chairs. The picnic grove is back the road to Watersonville – please contact me for directions.
Then the Kit-Han-Ne picnic the following Saturday, September 26th – at Crooked Creek Lake Park, Constitution Pavilion (the right one of the two pavilions across from the damkeeper's red brick homes). This picnic starts at 3PM, but if no one is using the pavilion for the AM hours, we can 'setup' earlier than 3PM. Food serving is planned for 5PM. This pavilion is by the playground and is 'kid-friendly'. Roy will have the hot dog cart there for the cooking of the club-supplied meats. Please bring a covered dish to share. Meats, drinks, buns, tableware, condiments will be supplied by the club.
Go to the website for many other upcoming events – Autumn Days at Clarion – Peanut Butter festival at New Bethlehem – and so forth.
Our club meeting of Wednesday, October 28th, at Cabin Greens Dining Room will be election night. So far, the slate is is: president – Bobbi Jensen, vice president – Roy Williamson, Secretary – Marcia Williamson, Treasurer – Bobbi Williamson, webmaster – Bill Johnson, and legislative liason - Jorn Jensen. If anyone else would like to be added to the slate, please contact me before our October 28th meeting.
Our fall banquet will be Saturday, November 7th at the Cabin Greens Golf Course dining room. Social hour will be from 5 to 6PM and dinner will be served at 6PM. The buffet is $15 per person. The menu is turkey and stuffing, beef tips, mashed potatoes, parsley redskin potatoes, buttered green beans, cole slaw, vanilla ice cream with chocolate topping. Dinner includes rolls, butter, coffee, tea, soft drinks and iced tea. The $15 includes tax and gratuity. Kids pricing is $4.95 up to and including age 10. All money is due to treasurer Bobbi Williamson, 302 Cherry Tree Lane, Kittanning, PA 16201 by October 30th. Family and friends are welcome .
The $10 2016 Kit-Han-Ne Club dues must be sent to Bobbi Williamson by November 15th. This is to allow time to arrange for national dues, paid by the club, to be completed on-time by Bobbi. Please, if you wish to remain a member, please get these dues in by November 15th. After November 15th, and no dues received, the member is dropped from the roles. Why not keep it simple – if you're sending a check for the banquet, include your 2016 dues, same envelope, same stamp.
Sunday, November 15th – ROAD TRIP – to Tara, Kraynaks, and Daffins in the greater Sharon, PA, area. We'll depart the Worthington Volunteer Fire Department parking lot at 9AM and head north. The brunch stop is first, at Tara – adults $20.95 plus tax and gratuity, seniors $16.95, children under 12 $12.95, babies and toddlers free.
Saturday, October 17th – ROAD TRIP – to the fall festival at Rockville Church. But, it will be by an indirect route to get some viewing of the countryside. The church puts on an excellent menu of homemade soups, sandwiches, pie and ice cream. There are also crafts and drawings for chances to win items. We'll have more information prepared for the September 23rd meeting at Cabin Greens.
We have received our 4 free national memberships applications. Let me know if you have a friend who may want to join. The $10 local club dues still applies, but national membership includes 4 great magazines per year and access to many AACA features.
Our next club meeting is Wednesday, September 23rd at Cabin greens golf Course. Remember, if rain for the cruise on the 16th, then we reverse the meeting/cruise nights – if rain, then meeting on the 16th and cruise on the 23rd. Dinner 6PM, meeting at 7PM. See you there.
