LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT – KIT-HAN-NE REGION OF THE AACA
September, and the cruise season starts to wind down – our last two Cadet cruises for 2009 are both in September, and then we move into our autumn events.
Our first September cruise is Wednesday, September 16th and webmaster Bill & Sue Johnson’s beautiful black Triumph TR3 will be the featured dash plaque car. Bill has also gotten us back into the DJ’ing business as Tom Lanning is not available in the fall due to work schedules. Please try to be at the Cadet early to help set up – it takes all of us to put on great cruises. Please remember your red club shirts as that really helps to identify club members to participants when they have a question or need.
Our last cruise for the year is our Wednesday, September 30th cruise for HAVIN. This is one of our two charity events for the year and we need to do it big for HAVIN. Larry and Jackie Rupp’s Mustang will grace the HAVIN cruise dash plaque. At this cruise, the folks from HAVIN always have nice fall munchies and drinks - please support their efforts. Same thing, please show up early to set up and remember the red shirts.
George Morda said that the Cadet will be available for our 2010 cruises, but there is a possibility of less parking spaces, which could lead to a fixed maximum number of cars admitted to the cruises for 2010. We’ve posted next year’s cruise dates on our website – they are May 19th, June 16th, July 21st, August 18th, September 15th and September 29th for HAVIN. We’re looking forward to another good year at the Cadet.
Our election of officers for 2010 will be at our October 28th meeting. The slate is Bobbi Jensen, President, Boyd Baker, Vice President, Donna Kovar, Treasurer, and Mark Crissman, Secretary. If anyone else wishes to be added to the slate, please contact Bobbi before the September 23rd meeting. Please come out to the meeting and vote – no need to worry about being drafted as the volunteers have already “agreed”. Also, thanks very much to Jim Schultze for his years as Treasurer – he did a great job!
The Keystone Kruisers picnic is Saturday, September 12th at Russ and Shirley Collar’s picnic pavilion starting at 2 PM. This is a great event with excellent food surprises, and our club is invited and welcome. Meat and drinks are provided, you provide a covered dish and your favorite folding chairs. Bring the old car if the weather is in our favor. Call or email for directions. Saturday, September 12th is also the Worthington Anything on Wheels Swap Meet in the morning – you can make both and have a full day of old car stuff.
Our overnight trip to Cambridge Springs is October 17th – we have 8 couples going so far – should be a great time with club hosts Bud & Carolyn Glendening. You can still make reservations if you want to join us by calling 814-398-4645.
Our annual trip to Tara, Kraynak’s and Daffins will be Saturday, November 7th. Our fall banquet is November 14th at the Kittanning Elks. Cocktails will be at 5:30 PM and are not included in the price of your meal. The buffet meal, at $11.95 per person, will be served at 6:30 PM, and includes turkey, stuffing, noodles, vegetable, coleslaw, gravey, rolls, coffee or tea and sheet cake. Children are very welcome at a reduced meal price. We will need a head count by October 30th.
Please invite family and friends to our Cambridge trip, the Tara trip and the fall banquet at the Elks. They are very welcome to join us.
Next club meeting at Teresa’s Royle Allegheny – Wednesday, September 23rd – 6 PM for dinner, 7 PM for the meeting.
